Covid Update / Waste disposal services open as normal

22/02/2021

PSH Environmental remains open as usual, whilst maintaining strict Covid 19 protocols to protect our staff and customers.

We’ve made some changes to our usual working practices to provide contact free skip delivery and collection, whilst maintaining social distancing as well as wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) whilst working.

Please see below some FAQs that may help you with your skip hire.

Can I still hire a skip in during these months? Yes you can. As DIY projects and construction jobs continue to proceed, skip hire in Norwich and surrounding areas have become increasingly popular with homeowners looking for an effective way to dispose of waste.

What can I hire a skip for? You are welcome to hire a skip for domestic use along with commercial skips for business use.

What can go into a skip? Various materials and items can be thrown into our general skips including bricks, rubble, tiles, wood, furniture, metals, green waste, general waste, soil and more. You can mix several waste types together within one skip, as long as none of the items are restricted (listed below).

What can’t go into a skip I’ve hired? Items which cannot go in are fridges and freezers, fluorescent tubes or mercury waste, asbestos, TV and computer monitors, gas canisters, plasterboard (unless the plasterboard is contained within bags, which can be purchased along with your skip), liquids (dried out solid paint is ok), tyres, and items of dangerous reactions. However if you’re unsure of any items feel free to call our team on 01603 721533 to find out, or send us an email.

Do I require a permit to hire a skip in Norfolk? If you are booking a skip which will be placed on a public road or verge, rather than on private property, then you will almost always need a skip permit from the relevant county council. There are some exceptions however, these include private roads and sometimes, new housing estates, where the roads have yet to be adopted by the council.

What are the Covid regulations regarding skip hire? During lockdown skip hire and waste work is allowed to continue as normal. If you’re undertaking DIY or employing builders to carry out essential works on your property, investing in a skip can be beneficial. Whilst tips remain open multiple trips to the tip isn’t practical and certainly isn’t encouraged. Having a skip delivered to your door, contact free is a practical solution.

Is delivery contact free? Our customers and staff safety is of our utmost importance during these uncertain times, so we’ll endeavour to provide contact free delivery during lockdown.

If you have a project you require a waste disposal service for, or have any questions we’re always here to help. Contact our friendly team on 01603 721533 who will be able to assist with any queries.
