In February we launched our ‘Clean Up To Green Up’ scheme in collaboration with the Norfolk Wildlife Trust (NWT). As a business we have pledged to support the Norfolk Wildlife Trust to restore agricultural land adjacent to Foxley wood back to ancient woodland. The field in question has been a missing piece of the ancient woodland and will finally bring the area together.
Foxley Wood is National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The woodland comprises 304 acres of ancient woodland which can be visited all year long and is home to birds, mammals, invertebrates, and a rich variety of flora from orchids to wild garlic. And, of course, we can’t fail to mention the woodland being famous as one of the best spots in the UK to visit during bluebell season.
As a business we are committed to investing back into our county and we are proud to be supporting the NWT. The best part is, our customers, who have contributed to the campaign via purchasing a skip, will be able to visit Foxley Wood and witness the project as it takes place.
Over the next three years we’ll be supporting NWT by donating £1 from every skip hired! So far we’ve already raised over £2,500 with this total ever increasing as part of our £45,000 conservation fundraising campaign.
Directors, Nigel, Martin, and Daniel Parker recently visited the wood to meet NWT representatives to find out how progress is going on site. We can already see signs of natural regeneration, with sprigs of blackthorn appearing and across the open sward, sedges are emerging as the former field starts to show life of more diverse species. These are of course the very first steps towards a long term conservation project at the reserve and we’re excited to see how it continues to develop. If you’d like to stay up to date with how the project is progressing follow our journey on our ‘Clean Up to Green Up’ page.
£1 from every skip hire goes directly to the fund for new woodland in your county, whether you want to show support by donating directly to the cause or by hiring a skip via our website then book now and help us make a difference.
