The PSH Environmental team had a fantastic November filled with achievements and milestones, and we’re thrilled to share some of the month’s successes with you.
The MRW National Recycling Awards
We are incredibly excited to announce that last week, we won the MRW National Recycling Award for Recycling Facility of the Year! This is a huge achievement for us, and winning an award such as this on a nationwide level is something we couldn’t be more proud of.
The PSH team, along with our friends from Untha, who are responsible for our two incredible solar-powered shredders, headed to London on November 26th for the ceremony, held in the Hilton Metropole London. It was a brilliant night full of celebration and talking to like-minded industry professionals, and we came away from it feeling grateful.
The award judges said: “They have shown what is possible, and if others did the same, the impact would be incredible.”
Our facility won this award in recognition of our unwavering dedication to sustainable waste management and innovative practices. By achieving 100% diversion of waste from landfill, we ensure that all materials passing through our site are either recycled or turned into energy.
The win is also down to the installation of nearly 800 solar panels that power our entire operation, including the groundbreaking world-first solar-powered UNTHA XR3000 shredder – now joined by a second unit – which not only reduces our carbon footprint but also generates surplus energy that is fed back into the grid. This year, we proudly achieved carbon-neutral status, and we are steadily advancing toward becoming a carbon-positive organization.
We are so proud of this win and are ready to charge ahead to the next one.
Another year sponsoring the King’s Lynn Stars
We are excited to be sponsoring The King’s Lynn Stars, the town’s speedway team, for another year as their main team sponsors.
Speedway is a motorcycle sport in which four to six riders race each other for four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. They use specialist bikes that have only one gear and no brakes, creating an adrenaline-packed sport loved by many across the world. We are big fans of Speedway here at PSH, and firm supporters of the talented King’s Lynn Stars team.
Here’s PSH director Daniel thoughts about the team’s year ahead:
“We’re excited about next year, the outlook is all very positive and Keith (Chapman), Rob (Lyon) and Dale (Allitt) have done a great job to put the line-up together. Everyone in that team is capable of scoring a good seven to ten points on any night, and we saw some of them as guests this year so hopefully they can pull off the same sort of performances in the year coming!
“Obviously the support from the King’s Lynn fans is key for the riders and the management, so I’d urge everyone to keep the support going and hopefully we’ll be up there competing at the top of the table.”
Keith Chapman, the King’s Lynn team promoter, had this to say about the sponsorship: “It’s a great Christmas present for the club to have this partnership extended and in fact increased from this year. It gives us really good continuity, and I’m particularly pleased that we are linked with a local company who have been so supportive of what we’re doing. It continues the positive vibes of the last few weeks and already we can’t wait to get started next season.”
What’s next for PSH?
December is a busy month for the team, so we’ll be getting our heads down and doing what we do best – sustainable waste management and recycling. For more PSH news and announcements, keep up to date with our blog posts right here on the PSH blog hub.
